Kestrel Pay launches embedded lending for SMB merchants

What changed

Kestrel now offers working-capital loans up to €250k inside its merchant dashboard, underwritten on payment volume. Available in Germany and the Netherlands.

Why it matters

Northline told Clarveni that SMB merchants in Germany are its core market. Lending tied to processing volume makes them harder to win back.

What to do next

Talk to your German SMB accounts about switching costs before Q4 renewals.

Observed change Northstar introduces a 25-seat minimum on its Business plan.

Harbour Project management, agencies of 11–24. No minimum seats. Implication **Act.** The minimum lands on the agencies you sell to. Test your offer for smaller teams.

Tern Project management, companies of 200 or more. Implication **Watch.** Little changes for you now: your buyers already sit well above 25 seats. Note it as a sign Northstar may be moving upmarket.

Same news. Different business. Different decision.

Every brief answers the questions you’d ask.

 Questions before you start.
---------------------------

Why not just ask ChatGPT or Claude every week? You can. Both will now run a task for you every week. The difference is what the answer starts from. Clarveni reads each development against what you told it about your business, and each brief picks up what earlier ones found. It also goes to as many colleagues as you like, at no extra cost. To compare the two, run both on the same week.

Would a rival following the same companies get the same brief?Their brief starts from their business, not yours. Each development is judged by what each customer told Clarveni about its positioning, customers and priorities. The same news can call for action at one business and only be worth watching at another. What you tell Clarveni is never shown to other customers.

What happens in a quiet week? You still get a brief on Monday. It’s shorter, and it says plainly that little changed instead of filling the page with minor news. Anything worth watching still appears, and so do updates on earlier findings. Quiet weeks are normal, and more likely with companies that publish little.

Which companies can Clarveni follow?Companies that leave a public trail, such as news coverage, announcements or a newsroom. Competitors, key accounts and partners are the natural place to start. Small private firms often publish little, so their weeks are more often quiet. If Clarveni can’t identify a company with confidence, it tells you rather than following the wrong one.

Does Clarveni monitor in real time? No. Clarveni works on a weekly cycle. It is not an instant-alert service.
